Tasting Characteristics
Sense of toasted sugar, spices, smoky fruit, candied cherries, honey and vanilla. Starts out like a bourbon, finishes like a rye whiskey.
The process
What makes Michter's Sour Mash Whiskey so special?
• Barrels are dried with air, naturally (18 - 36 months)
• Barrels are toasted, before being charred, to slightly caramelize wood sugars
• Filling of the barrels at lower ABV (51.5% vol, instead of the 62.5% industry standard)
• Larger "angel's share", because of the heat
• Selected chill filter protocol for each product
• Really small quantity of production.
Served
Enjoy on the rocks, plain or with drops of mineral water. Also ideal in a cocktail.
