The name 'Herradura' means 'horseshoe'. It was towards the end of the 19th century when a distiller accidentally found a horseshoe in an agave field in Jalisco, Mexico. He considered it a sign of good luck. It took several years for this petal to become not only the name, but also the symbol of his distillery, which has been officially operating since 1870. The tequila produced comes exclusively from the special blue agave.
