Tamdhu Distillery is a single malt whisky distillery located in the Scottish village of Knockando and in gaelic Tamdhu means "little dark hill". The distillery was founded in 1896 by a group of assemblers entrepreneurs who wished to venture into the production of their own whisky and they shared the ambition of creating the best whisky in the world. The first single malt whisky was distilled and barreled in 1897. Unlike other distilleries, Tamdhu does not have a pagoda-shaped roof over the malt kilns and is one of the last distilleries to malt all their barley on site with a mechanical still.
