Founded in 1830 by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill, the distillery officially opened in Carbost in 1831 and was named after his estate, Talisker, rather than the village which it was located. Perched on the shores of Loch Harport, Talisker is the oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye's Minginish peninsula. This creates a seductively sweet and full-bodied single malt that most pleasantly embodies the natural and wild character of its island.
