Moet & Chandon, is a French fine winery and part of the luxury goods company LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE and is one of the largest producers of champagne in the world. The Moet & Chandon was originally called Moet et Cie and was founded by the wine merchant Epernay Claude Moet in 1743 who began shipping his wine to Paris. The reign of Louis XV coincided with an increased demand for sparkling wine. Shortly after its establishment, and after his son Claude-Louis joined Moët et Cie, the winery's clientele included nobles and aristocrats.
