Matthew Gloag started out as a grocer in Perth, four generations later his sons have built a large whiskey blending and bottling business under the Famous Grouse brand. This was the case until death liabilities forced the sale of the company to the Highland Distilleries Co. Ltd, now owned by Edrington.
