In the summer of 1886, with his seven sons and two daughters by his side, William set out to fulfill a lifelong ambition. After only one year of work it was ready and William named it Glenfiddich, for Valley of the Deer in gaelic. William's passion, determination and pioneering spirit continue to guide the distillery to this day. Glenfiddich is one of the few single malt distilleries to remain exclusively family-owned and is now the most awarded Single Malt Scotch Whiskey in the world, a true reflection of the founder's innovative nature, passed down from generation to generation.
