Drambuie's story began in 1745 when it arrived on British shores under the tutelage of its original custodian, Prince Charles Edward Stuart. It was the Prince's personal potion and he drank a few drops every day for strength and vitality. The Prince gave John MacKinnon, the leader of the clan, the secret recipe for his personal liqueur. 100 years later, in 2014, the Drambuie recipe is passed from one family company to another as William Grant & Sons acquires the brand. From delivery, the recipe is kept in a safe at our blending services near Glasgow. Only three people know the recipe, one of whom personally blends each batch of Drambuie essence and is the fifth generation from our founder William Grant.
