A subversive environment prevailed in the United States during the 1970s. As a result, some bartenders from New Orleans decided to differentiate themselves from the masses and belong to a particular club. For the connecting link of this club they chose Jagermeister. By drinking a Jager, the members of the club acquired something like a secret code of communication between them. The special taste of the drink and the gothic shape of the bottle together with the deer and the cross, which are characteristic elements of the Jagermeister, contributed to this. Thus, the Jagermeister started in America as the original shot of bartenders to be then spread around the world. Its global success is evidenced by the fact that, in 2005, it rose to 13th place in the global sales ranking (Impact International).
