Esperance de Trotanoy is not exactly the second label of the sensational Trotanoy, since it is not a selection of barrels that are "less than sensational" and therefore do not enter the Grand Vin selection. It yields a wine that has depth and quality, but lacks the ability to age for decades. So this is Esperance de Trotanoy, first released in 2009.
Τasting Characteristics
A beautiful red wine with an intense red color. Strong and dense with notes of dark chocolate, licorice, plums and cherries. A spicy wine, extremely rich on the palate with an amazing complexity and incredible concentration of flavor.
Variety Composition
Μerlot 90%, Cabernet Franc 10%
Vineyard
It comes from a specific vineyard, in the northeast corner of the estate, which gives it a character that Christian Moueix believes is not what he is looking for in Trotanoy.
Vinification – Maturation
Vinification takes place in traditional temperature-controlled concrete tanks. The wine is aged 40 to 50% in new, French oak barrels for 18 to 20 months before bottling. The amount of oak and time in barrel varies, depending on the quality, character and style of the vintage.
Ηarmony
An ideal combination with roast duck, cooked red meats, ragout, roast lamb or veal, fillets and mature cheeses.
Best Served
At 16 - 18°C
