Tasting Characteristics
Aromas of orange, cherry and spices dominate. Sweet at first, mildly bitter afterwards, with a strong botanical element.
The process
To extract their valuable ingredients, some herbs are boiled, while others are put in an aqueus-alcoholic solution for 20 - 30 days. Distillations follow, resulting in 12 different distillates. From their careful mixing, 6 "elixirs" are formed, which constitute the core of the final spirit, each in a specific percentage. Finally, alcohol, water, sugar and a magic drop of a distillate from 5 secret herbs are added, to create the unique character of Amaro Montenegro.
Served
Enjoy it cold in a shot glass, or with tonic in a tall glass or with mezcal in an old-fashioned glass. Ideal for bartenders who wish to highlight a cocktail, such as Negroni, Margarita, Zombie, Paloma, Manhattan, Whiskey Sour and Mule. It is also a great digestive, due to herbs it contains.
