Havana Club Rum is made by Maestro del Ron Cubano in Santa Cruz del Norte, Cuba using traditional Cuban methods. The label was created in 1878 by José Aretsavala, while after the Cuban Revolution of 1959, the popular government of Cuba socialized the distillery and the company. Since 1994, it has been produced by Havana Club International, a company half owned by Pernod Ricard and half owned by the Cuban government.
