Black Forest cake doesn't get its name from the mountains of Southwest Germany as one might expect, but from the region's liqueur known as Schwarzwalder Kirsch, a bitter cherry spirit. This is the main ingredient, which gives the bitter and alcoholic character to the cake. Normally, Black Forest contains layers of chocolate cake, cream and cherries between each layer. Finally, it is decorated with extra whipped cream, maraschino cherries and chocolate shavings. Monin has created this special dessert flavor to inspire you in the creation of dessert drinks.
